Queima das Fitas 1965

         Some time after finishing her stay at "Belas Artes " , Helena participated in a collective exhibition inserted in the student commemorations "Queima das Fitas". This exhibition was organized by students of Medicine that accepted the Helena canvas, even against the strong protests of some of "Belas Artes" representatives.

        That exhibition would have an high level, being opened by the President of Republique of Portugal (Alm. Américo Thomaz) who elected the Helena`s canvas, as his preference having even saluted the artist defying her to have an exhibition at the capital Lisboa (Lisbon).

     This episode would be however extremely premonitory. Helena would have in the future more difficulties with the formal elites than close of the "common " public.
